Bran Castle situated on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia, Romania is commonly known as "Dracula's Castle".
Many historians feel that Bram Stoker had based his famous novel Dracula on the Transylvanian born Vlad III of Wallachia, son of the Knight Vlad II, who was given the title of Dracul (dragon) for his bravery.
Vlad III therefore was known as Dracula (son of the dragon). Reportedly he was very cruel to his opponents.
