Highest Mountain Peak Visible in Google Street View (Updated)

Google Street View

Sometimes back (June 2011) I had made a post about the highest mountain peak visible in Google Street View. At the time of making that post, Mt. Mckinley, Alaska, USA (6,198 metres/20,335 ft), was the highest peak visible in GSV. However with the release of imageries of "The World's Highest Peaks" by Google on March 18, 2013, the position has changed and currently (June 2013) the Highest Peak visible in Google Street View is the Pumori Mountain on the Nepal-Tibet border in the Himalayas.

Pumori with an elevation of 7,161 metres/(23,494 ft, lies about 8 kms (5 miles) west of Mt. Everest. The above view was taken from  Kala Patthar, a small peak (5,643m/18,513 feet) below the south face of Pumori. Many trekkers climb to the top of Kala Patthar to get a clear view of  Mt. Everest and it was bad luck for GSV Camera team, that on the day of their visit to Kala Pathar, Mt. Everest was shrouded by the clouds. It is barely discernible on the left of the pole in this street view.

Here is actual full view of Everest as seen from Kala Pather. The peak on the left is Nuptse;

Sometimes back (June 2011) I had made a post about the highest point where Google Street View Camera had reached. At the time of making that post, the end point of Mount Evans Scenic Byway in Colorado, USA, was the highest (4,310 m/14,130 feet). However with the release of imageries of "The World's Highest Peaks" by Google on March 18, 2013, the status has changed and currently (June 2013) the Highest Point where Google Street View Camera has reached is the Aconcagua Summit in Argentina.

The Aconcagua, located in the Andes range, has an elevation of 6,960.8 metres/22,837.3 ft and it is not only the highest mountain in the Americas, it is also highest peak outside Asia. (Wikipedia)
